This piece was started in Lyme Regis on a solo trip I took just weeks after I resigned from a company where I had worked for thirteen years. There was a beautiful bridge that crossed a river flowing into the sea. Even though the weather was turning into autumn, all the restaurants along the water had their outdoor spaces open, soaking in the last bits of warmth before the winter chill fully engulfed the coast. Seaside dining in Europe is truly a magical experience. Bringing together whimsical festoon lighting and sea-stained structures, this piece embodies the warmth, connection and joy that comes from sharing a meal near the water with friends or kind strangers.
